Executive Summary
Led INV Team 6 through a complete innovation lifecycle from opportunity discovery across nine named partners to a pilot-ready recommendation backed by two independent scoring passes. Shortlisted three concepts: Verified Skill Passport (VSP), Scalable Match Engine (SME), and Momentum & Early Warning System (MEWS) each addressing a validated market gap: credential trust, matching-at-scale, and the 12.6% MOOC completion crisis. Scored all three concepts twice, one week apart, using different criteria each round. Both rounds returned the same answer: MEWS. Recomm
2The Problem
The virtual internship market grew from $1.6B (2021) to $3.2B (2025), projected at $9.8B by 2034 (13.2% CAGR). Yet no existing platform Forage, Parker Dewey, Riipen, or Practera solved verification, automated matching, and completion engineering together. Each solved access to experiential work only. The team needed to identify which concept Excelerate should pilot first, based on evidence, not enthusiasm.
Operating Constraints
9 partner organizations with diverse innovation contexts. 2 independent scoring passes required concept had to satisfy both evaluators. 36+ source references needed for concept validation.
3Objective
Lead an innovation consulting engagement identifying 3 viable innovation concepts from 9 named partner organizations. Source 36+ references and pass 2 independent scoring evaluations to validate concept quality.
4Approach & Method
Why This Approach
Sourced 36+ references before concept development because innovation credibility depends on evidence density. Passed two independent scoring evaluations rather than relying on a single assessor to validate concept robustness.
5Evidence & Artifacts
6Outcome & Results
- •Pilot-ready recommendation delivered. MEWS selected based on structural advantage zero external dependency de-risked rollout. VSP and SME retained on roadmap for sequenced scaling. Implementation roadmap: Planning (2-4wk) → Pilot Launch (4-8wk) → Monitoring (2-4wk) → Ongoing Scaling.
- •MEWS framework was independently validated by 2 scoring passes, confirming concept quality and real-world applicability beyond the competition context.
